Dr. Colin Kanowitz qualified as a Dental Surgeon in 1981 obtaining an award for "the best dental student in the year". Dr. Kanowitz received the "best all round dental student of class 1981", obtaining 5 distinctions in Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Oral Pathology, Community Dentistry & Radiology. After obtaining his degree at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, Dr. Kanowitz spent two years in the defence force as a general dentist.
